4. Monitoring and Evaluation
The purpose of monitoring and evaluation is to:
- Improve the quality of the project activities
- Provide justification for continued allocation of resources into the project.
The project has developed a number of monitoring and evaluation instruments aimed at
- Measuring change of attitude among INSET participants
- Measuring upgrading in content mastery and pedagogical skills
- Measuring upgrading in quality of teaching and learning
- Determining the quality of INSET sessions
- Monitoring prudent financial practices
JICA evaluates the project on the basis of the following criteria:
- Efficiency
- Effectiveness
- Sustainability
- Relevance
- Impact
The project was rated very highly during the final evaluation conducted by JICA in 2002.
